What is crinkle paper shred?

It is paper cut into narrow strips with a zigzag fold along each one. The fold makes every strip act like a small spring.

Pressed into a box, the shred pushes back up and holds items in place. Loose paper strips without the crinkle lie flat and do not do this.

Our photos show it in gift boxes of every size, in pastels, bright colors, navy, pink and white. The same cut works in each, so the choice is only about color and amount.

Who uses paper shred filler?

Hamper makers, gift box brands, florists, bakeries and online stores order most of our shred. Anyone packing several small items in one box needs it.

  • Gift box companies building curated sets
  • Hamper and basket makers for holidays and events
  • Subscription and online stores packing mailers
  • Bakeries setting cookies or macarons in a gift box
  • Party planners filling favor boxes and Easter baskets

How much crinkle shred do I need per box?

It depends on the box size and how much you want the items to sit up. A thin layer just covers the base; a deep bed lifts items to the rim.

Fill one box and weigh the shred you used. Multiply that by your monthly box count and you have a reliable order size.

The guide below is a starting point. Real use varies with how hard you press the shred down.

Which shred color suits my packaging?

Natural kraft shred suits rustic hampers, farm shops and brown kraft boxes. It looks warm and plain.

White shred looks clean and lets colorful products stand out. It suits beauty brands and white gift boxes.

Colored shred is where you can show your brand. Match it to your logo, or pick a seasonal color like pastels at Easter or orange for Halloween.

Mixed colors work well for birthdays and kids' parties. A blend of two or three colors looks livelier than a single shade.

Can shred help an online order arrive looking good?

Yes, when items are packed with gaps between them. Shred keeps a candle, a soap and a card from sliding into one corner on the way.

Fill the base first, set the items in, then tuck shred into each gap. Close the lid and give the box a gentle shake. If you hear rattling, add more.

Leave a little shred showing at the top when the lid opens. It is the first thing your customer sees, so match it to the box or your logo.

Heavier boxes need more shred than you think. Pack a test box and check it after a day, because shred settles under weight.

How do I fluff up crinkle shred before packing?

Shred arrives pressed together in its bag. Pull a handful out and loosen it with your fingers before it goes into a box.

Shaking the handful over the box spreads it evenly. Pressing it down firmly in one spot makes a flat, dense patch.

  1. Open the bag and pull out a loose handful.
  2. Tease the strips apart with your fingers.
  3. Drop it into the box and spread it to the corners.
  4. Make a hollow where each item will sit.
  5. Set the items in and tuck more shred around the gaps.

Does shred go with printed bags and tissue?

Yes. A printed bag, a sheet of tissue and a layer of shred make a finished gift with very little effort.

Shred works best underneath the item, lifting it up. Tissue goes around the item or on top.

Pick shred in a color drawn from your bag print. Our custom printed tissue paper can match the same color family.

Storing shred in a busy packing room

Keep shred bags closed and off the floor. A shelf at waist height also saves bending at the bench. Paper picks up damp and dust, and flattened shred loses its spring.

Decant one bag at a time into a large open bin at the packing bench. Staff grab handfuls faster than pulling from a tight bag.

Keep each color in its own labeled bin. Mixed colors are easy to make on purpose but hard to sort once they happen by accident.

Mistakes people make with paper filler

Pack one sample box and photograph it from above. If the shred is the first thing you notice, use less.

  • Burying the product so deep that the customer digs for it.
  • Using too little, so heavy items slide and knock together.
  • Pressing shred flat instead of fluffing it first.
  • Picking a shred color that clashes with the box print.
  • Leaving bags open in a damp storeroom.

Ordering crinkle paper shred

Tell us the colors you want, how many bags of each, and what you pack it with. If you have a brand color, send the reference.

Shred is quoted in writing like everything else, and can share an order with your printed bags and tissue. Ordering them together means one delivery and one set of cartons to unpack.

Planning a seasonal hamper run? Our gift and boutique bag range has the bags to pair with your shred.

Is shred the right filler for my order?

Shred is ideal when the box has gaps and the look matters. It is less suited to a single item in a snug box, where tissue is enough.

For heavy glass in a mailer, shred helps keep items apart. It is a filler, though, not a cushion against drops. Wrap fragile items first, then add shred around them.

If you are unsure, ask for a mix: a few bags of shred, a run of tissue and your bags on one quote. You can adjust the balance on the next order.

Crinkle Paper Shred: questions

12 answers. Type a word to narrow the list.

What is the difference between crinkle shred and straight paper shred?

Crinkle shred has a zigzag fold in each strip, so it springs up and holds items in place. Straight shred lies flat and packs down.

Can I order crinkle paper shred in my brand color?

Yes. Share a Pantone number or a photo of your packaging, and the quote names the nearest shade available.

Can I mix two colors of paper shred?

Yes. Order each color and blend them at your packing bench, or ask us about a mixed pack on your quote.

How is crinkle paper shred packed?

It is packed loose by the bag. Tell us how many boxes or baskets you fill and we suggest how many bags to order.

Is crinkle shred good for hampers with bottles?

Yes. A deep bed of shred helps bottles and jars stand upright. Wrap glass first if it will be shipped.

Does crinkle shred come printed with a logo?

No. Shred is sold in plain colors. Pair it with printed tissue or a printed bag to carry your brand.

Why has my shred gone flat?

Shred flattens when bags are stacked tightly or stored somewhere damp. Fluff it with your fingers before use, and keep bags dry.

Can I use crinkle shred in a gift bag?

Yes. A loose handful in the base lifts the gift, then tissue goes on top.

Which shred color suits an Easter basket?

Pastels such as pink, lilac, mint and pale yellow are the usual choice, often mixed together.

Can I order shred and paper bags together?

Yes. Add shred to the same quote as your bags and tissue so everything arrives in one order.

How do I work out how much shred to buy?

Pack one box, weigh the shred you used, and multiply by your monthly box count. Add a little for busy weeks.

Is black crinkle shred available?

Yes. Black shred suits luxury gift boxes and makes metallic or white items stand out.
