Quick answer

What are sandwich wrap bags?

Sandwich wrap bags are flat kraft sleeves sealed on two edges and open on the other two. The food goes in from the corner, and the customer folds the paper back as they eat. Burger bars, sub shops and food trucks use them in place of loose wrap sheets.

How a sandwich wrap bag differs from a sandwich bag

A regular sandwich bag is closed on three sides. A wrap bag is sealed on only two edges, leaving the top and one side open like a corner pocket.

That open side changes how it is used. The cook lays the burger in from the side, folds the flap over and serves it. The customer peels the paper back as they eat.

Our photos show it clearly. The bun sits half out of the sleeve, held by paper on the bottom and back.

Who uses wrap bags?

Burger bars, sub shops, food trucks and stadium grills are the main buyers. Anywhere a hot sandwich is eaten standing up, a wrap bag saves napkins and mess.

They also replace loose wrapping sheets. A sheet needs folding skill and time, while a sleeve goes on in one move even at peak hour.

Breakfast is a quiet winner. An egg muffin in a sleeve can be eaten on the way to work, with no plate or box.

  • Burger and smash-burger kitchens
  • Sub and hoagie counters
  • Food trucks and festival stands
  • Breakfast sandwich and bagel shops

What size wrap bag fits a standard burger?

Most single-patty burgers on a 4 in bun sit well in a 6.5 × 6.5 in sleeve. The extra paper folds over the top and keeps the bun warm on the walk to the table.

Measure the bun across, then add roughly two inches. Double patties and tall brioche buns need the next size up, because height eats into the paper as it wraps.

Subs work the other way. Measure the length of the roll and choose a tall, narrow sleeve so the paper covers the bottom two thirds.

If you are between sizes, choose the larger one. A sleeve that is a little loose still works, but a tight one splits at the seam.

Do wrap bags keep a hot burger warm?

They help for the few minutes between pass and first bite. The paper traps some heat, and the folded flap stops the top of the bun drying out.

They are not a delivery package on their own. For delivery, the wrapped burger still goes into a box or a carryout bag.

At the table, the sleeve also catches drips that would otherwise land on a tray or a lap. Fewer napkins go out with each order.

Why light kraft paper is used

Wrap bags use light kraft. Around 50–60 gsm is typical, which is roughly 31–37 lb basis, and both figures are guidance. Thin paper bends around a soft bun without crushing it.

Heavier paper looks sturdier but fights the food. It springs open, leaves the bun exposed and takes more room in the prep station.

Juicy burgers will still mark the paper. That is normal for kraft, and the natural brown color hides it better than white.

Can I print my brand on wrap bags?

Yes. Customers hold this bag at eye level while they eat. Few surfaces in a burger shop get looked at for longer.

A repeating pattern works better than one big logo. Whichever way the sleeve is folded, part of the pattern stays visible, as in our printed white wrap photo.

One or two dark colors are common on brown kraft. If you want a bright full-color design, ask about white paper and see it first in Design Your Bag.

Social handles, a short tagline or a menu QR code also fit on the lower half of the sleeve.

Using wrap bags on the line

The sleeve is quick, but only if it is stacked the right way round. Set the station up before service.

Keep a second stack at the expo window for re-wraps. If a burger leaks or a sleeve tears, the fix takes seconds.

  1. Stack the sleeves with the open side facing the cook.
  2. Build the burger on the bottom bun, then close it.
  3. Slide it into the corner pocket from the open side.
  4. Fold the loose top flap down over the bun.
  5. Serve with the open corner up so the first bite is ready.

Mistakes to avoid with sandwich wraps

We see the same handful of errors from kitchens switching from sheets to sleeves. All of them are cheap to fix before printing.

  • Ordering a square size for subs, so the ends stick out
  • Choosing paper that is too heavy, so the sleeve springs open
  • Printing a single logo where the fold will hide it
  • Using wrap sleeves alone for delivery orders
  • Forgetting that tall buns need a bigger sleeve than the bun width suggests

How many wrap sleeves should I order?

Count one sleeve for every burger, sub or hot sandwich you sell. Then add a small margin for re-wraps and torn sleeves.

Check your till reports for a normal week rather than a record one. Multiply by the number of weeks you want the stock to last.

Sleeves are light and ship flat, so a larger run takes little storage. Ask for prices at two quantities and compare them on one quote.

Wrap sleeve or a wrap sheet?

Sheets are flexible and suit every size, but they need practice to fold neatly. Sleeves are faster and look the same every time.

Some kitchens keep both: sleeves for burgers and subs, sheets for odd shapes like quesadillas. Our wax paper bags for deli items help when a closed pouch suits better.

Ordering sandwich wrap bags

Send us the bun and roll sizes on your menu, a typical weekly count and any artwork. One quote can cover a burger size and a sub size together.

Your quote arrives in writing, with sleeves starting from $0.30 per unit, plus a free design proof. Production takes 4–6 business days once you approve it, then delivery is tracked and free.

Fry bags and carryout bags usually go out alongside a burger. You will find both in our lineup of food and takeout bags.

Sandwich Wrap Bags: questions

12 answers. Type a word to narrow the list.

Which sides of a sandwich wrap bag are open?

The top and one side are open, and the other two edges are sealed. That lets the food slide in from the corner.

Can customers eat a burger straight from a wrap bag?

Yes. That is what the open side is for. The customer folds the paper back as they eat and keeps their hands clean.

What wrap bag size suits a footlong sub?

A tall, narrow sleeve around 6 × 14 in usually covers most of a footlong roll. Send your roll length and we suggest a size.

Are sandwich wrap bags better than wrap sheets?

Sleeves are faster and more consistent at busy times. Sheets suit odd shapes, so many kitchens use both.

Will burger juice soak through a wrap bag?

Juicy food can mark light kraft paper. Brown kraft hides those marks well, and the bag is meant to be used for one meal.

Can wrap bags have a serrated edge?

Yes. We can quote straight or serrated open edges. A serrated edge tears back more easily as the customer eats.

Do sandwich wrap bags work for hot dogs?

Yes. A narrow 6 × 10 in sleeve often fits a hot dog in its bun. Keep the open side facing up.

Is a printed pattern better than a logo on wrap bags?

A repeating pattern stays visible however the sleeve folds. A single logo can end up hidden in the fold.

Can I order plain kraft wrap bags?

Yes. Plain natural kraft sleeves are quoted in the same way as printed ones.

Can wrap bags be white instead of brown?

Yes. White paper shows bright artwork better, though it shows food marks more than brown kraft.

Should delivery burgers go in a wrap bag?

Wrap the burger in the sleeve, then pack it in a box or carryout bag. The sleeve alone is not built for the journey.

Can I quote burger and sub wrap sizes together?

Yes. List each size with its quantity, and they appear as separate lines on one quote.
